Care & Cleaning

Innersoul Jewelry is a precious possession that is designed and crafted with great quality. Proper care is required to assure the lasting qualities of your jewelry. Innersoul is pleased to offer simple guidelines for the care and cleaning of your Innersoul jewelry.

general tips

  • Store your jewelry in a clean, dry place.

  • Keep your jewelry in a fabric-lined jewelry case, or in a box with compartments and dividers. If you prefer to use ordinary boxes, wrap each piece individually in soft tissue paper.

  • Don't jumble your jewelry pieces in a drawer or jewelry case. Pieces can scratch each other.

  • Be careful when removing your jewelry to wash your hands.

  • Do not leave your jewelry on the rim of a sink where it can easily slip down the drain.

  • See your jeweler at least once a year to have your jewelry checked for loose prongs, worn mountings, and general wear and tear.

General Care and Cleaning Rules that apply to:

shell jewelry

  • After wearing, wipe your shell jewelry thoroughly with a clean, soft, slightly damp cloth. This will enhance the lustre of the shell and ensure that your jewelry is clean before storage.

  • Store shell pieces individually in soft pouches.

  • Do not expose your precious shell pieces to harsh chemicals, such as chlorine or detergents. These chemicals may slowly erode the finish and polish of shell.

  • Hair spray, perfume and perspiration may cause jewelry to become dull. Apply all cosmetics, perfumes and colognes before putting on shell jewelry.

  • Make sure to wipe your shell pieces after wear to remove any chemicals, oils or perspiration.

  • Do not subject shell jewelry to sudden temperature changes.

  • If you have an active lifestyle, take extra precautions with some types of shell jewelry. Some shells, for example, are brittle and should not be worn when doing household chores or any other activity where the stone could be hit or damaged.

  • Be extra careful with ultrasonic cleaners. Some shells are fragile and can be damaged by ultrasonic cleaners.

  • Always thoroughly rinse and dry your jewelry after cleaning and before storage.

sterling silver, silver plate & pewter

  • All precious metals can oxidize with time. But properly maintained some metal jewelry especially silver improves with age and develops a lush patina. Treat your silver well, care for it properly and it will reward you with a long life and a lustrous look.

  • Clean your metal jewelry with a mild soap and water solution, allowing the water to bead up, and then pat dry with a soft cloth.

  • For more stubborn dirt, use a jewelry cleaner designed for silver use.

  • Store your metal pieces in a cool, dry place, preferably in a tarnish-preventive bag or wrapped in a soft piece of felt or cloth.

  • Store pieces individually, so that they don't knock together and scratch.

  • Do not rub silver with anything other than a polishing cloth or a fine piece of felt.

  • Tissue paper or paper towels can cause scratches because of the fibers in these products.

  • Make sure your metal pieces are not exposed to air and light during storage – this can cause your metal to tarnish.

  • And don't wear metal jewelry in chlorinated water or when working with household chemicals.

mother of pearl & polished abalone

  • Mother of pearl & polished abalone are precious jewels and should be treated as such. They're also the products of living creatures. Its delicate nature makes mother of pearl & polished abalone particularly susceptible to damage. • Apply cosmetics, hair sprays and perfume before putting on any mother of pearl & polished abalone jewelry.

  • When you remove the jewelry, wipe it carefully with a soft cloth to remove any traces of these substances.

  • You can also wash your mother of pearl & polished abalone jewelry with mild soap and water.

  • Do not clean mother of pearl & polished abalone with any chemicals, abrasives or solvents. These substances can damage your mother of pearl & polished abalone.

  • Always lay mother of pearl & polished abalone flat to dry.

  • Do not toss your mother of pearl & polished abalone jewelry carelessly into a purse, bag or jewel box.

  • A mother of pearl & polished abalone surface is soft and can be scratched by hard metal edges or by the harder gemstones of other jewelry pieces.

  • Place mother of pearl & polished abalone in a chamois bag or wrap them in tissue when putting them away.
